Fountain Hills- a Dream Come True

Fountain Hills Arizona Photo

Throw caution to the wind, toss a coin into the fountain at Fountain Hills, and make a wish for an exciting new home. Due to the tremendous availability of beautiful houses and land for sale, chances are, your wish will be granted. And what better place than here, where C. V. Wood, one of the Disneyland designers, began to make dreams come true for the initial residents?

Fountain Hills, Arizona, located to the east of Scottsdale and Paradise Valley in Maricopa County, is a veritable goldmine of opportunity when it comes to discovering property for relocation. The town, smaller than its surrounding communities, has an exciting history and a promising future filled with luxury homes and golf properties.

A Brief History

The surrounding area of Fountain Hills has a very colorful past- prospectors searching for gold, confrontations between the army and Indians, and the beauty and wildlife of the mountains beckoning to the tourists of the time. The acreage where Fountain Hills now sits actually began as the privately owned P-Bar Ranch.

Very little is known about this panoramic section of Arizona prior to the 1930s. The ranch passed through several owners until finally being developed into the community of Fountain Hills. A fountain, created at the center of the almost 30-acre lake sitting at the center of town and turned on for the first time in December of 1970, fascinates tourists and residents alike.

Places to Eat

Unique and pleasant dining experiences await your taste buds, no matter what your culinary preferences may be. Coffee houses, such as the ever-popular Starbucks, will give you a kick-start in the morning should you decide to move here. Fine dining, casual eateries, and fast food places offer enough variety to please even the pickiest of eaters.

Things To Do

Cool off from the summer heat with a refreshing spray of water as you experience the exhilaration of a swift ride in an inner tube down the Salt or Verde River. Salt River Tubing & Recreation has everything you need and opens every year beginning in May.

The Wild, Wild West is alive and well at Fort McDowell Adventures, located on the Yavapai Indian Reservation. Place yourself back in time and play cowboy as you go on the “City Slicker Cattle Drive” or the “Verde River Trail Ride.” Explore Tonto National Forest while horseback riding, shoot a six-gun, rope a few energetic steers, or get caught up in the tales of the Old West.

Nearby Saguaro Lake, one of the Salt River Lakes, provides ample boating and fishing amenities. Picnicking, swimming, and camping, offer the opportunity to bask in the sun while soaking in the natural beauty of the desert flora and fauna surrounding the area

The Night Life

Enjoy the free entertainment offered at the Fort McDowell Casino, along with the opportunity to go home a few dollars lighter. Arizona’s largest card room, as well as bingo games, slot machines, and keno await your presence. An eclectic schedule of music, including the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and polkas is provided nightly at the Lucky 7 Saloon.
